How to Open a Facebook Account for Your Business

Do you want to give your business more brand awareness? Social media is a great way to help with that. What better platform to use than Facebook, the biggest social network on the internet?

In 2015, over 50 million businesses began to use Facebook Pages and the number continues to climb. This is an understandable turn of events since more than 2.32 billion active users are on it.

If you want to give your business an edge in brand awareness, we’ll show you how to open a Facebook account below.

1. Why Open a Business Profile on Facebook?

As stated above, Facebook is one of the biggest social networks. Giving your business some form of presence here is a great way to boost awareness and sales. Other than increased exposure, Facebook also allows you to interact with customers.

Social media marketing allows you to connect with consumers on a deeper level. This stems from the ability of users to add comments, recommendations, and ratings. In turn, you can reply to any questions through the Messenger feature or on the comments.

2. How to Open a Facebook Account for Your Business: Sign Up

To create a Facebook Account, you need a Facebook profile. You could use your own account to create a Facebook Page for your business. Or, you can also create a new Facebook account for the business.

Go to the site “facebook.com/business”. On the upper-right corner, you will see a Create Page button. Click on it and it will lead you to a page for creating a Facebook page.

A grid of different business types will come up and you must choose one that suits your business. If it is under more than one, choose one that your customers will think of more when they think about it. For example, a Facebook public figure page is best suited for major influencers.

Click on your choice to open up a box that will ask for more details. Fill in these details, including the category. When you start typing, a list will come up and so choose from one of the Facebook business categories options.

Make sure the details you input like the business name is correct. This information will be what comes up when someone does a Facebook search of businesses. When you’re ready, you need to click Get Started to move onto the next step.

3. Get Started by Adding Photos

The next step is to choose a profile image for your Facebook business page. The best one to use for this is your business logo. Local store owners can also take a well-shot photo of their storefronts or signature products.

The next thing you need is to upload a cover photo. Facebook will display this most prominent image at the top of your business’ Facebook page. Thus, this photo needs to capture the essence of your brand as well as its personality.

4. Add a Short Description About Your Business

The next step will allow you to put up information about your business. To do this, click on the text saying Add a Short Description. In the box that pops up, type in a concise but clear message your customers need to know about your business.

Take note that you only have 155 characters to work with. At most, you can squeeze in a couple of sentences. If you want to elaborate further, you can add a longer description later on.

5. Fill in the About Section

Before you start creating your first post, you need to prepare your page for visitors. This includes accomplishing the About section on your business’s Facebook page. Put in specific details here as you would on your calling card or brochure.

To start, look at the menu on the left-hand side of the Facebook Page and click About. Edit business details like your contact information, business hours, and more. Depending on what kind of business you run, you can also add the menu, price ranges, or location details.

You can go further by adding a longer description of your business. Click on Edit Story and type in the history of the business. You can also add a full description of it and why customers should choose your business.

6. Improve Your Business Account

Create a custom URL so people can better remember your business on Facebook. This can happen after you accumulate 25 fans. The URL will make your Facebook business page rank in search engine searches results.

Note that you can only change this URL once so be smart about what you change it to. Make it easy to type and easy to remember with your business name within it. To set up a new URL, click on Create a Username for Your Page.

You can also begin advertising your business on Facebook. The Facebook Business Manager tool will be helpful in this venture. It manages not only your Facebook Pages and ad accounts, but it also works with agencies.

Go to Business Manager and click on Ad Accounts under Accounts. Fill in the information about your company and then enter your billing details. The next step is to set up a payment method for the running of ads.

Go to Payments settings and insert the details of your billing and payment methods. As a tip, set up a spending limit and more than one payment option. Expect the bill for your ads on Facebook at the end of the month or when you reach the billing threshold.

In 2016, over 3 million businesses advertised on Facebook. They used the Your Business Story tool on Facebook. It allowed them to create a video that not only advertised but also enlightened viewers of their businesses.

7. Other Concerns

To close a Facebook business page, click on Settings at the top of the page. Under General, the last option is Remove Page. Click Edit and follow the link to delete your page.

A popup window will open that will need your confirmation. Click on Delete Page and a confirmation that your page is on deletion mode will pop up. Note that you have 14 days to cancel the deletion process, should your mind change.

If you want to know how to change a business name on Facebook, it’s easy. Go to About on the left side of the page. Click on Edit next to the page name and enter a new name in.

Review your request to change the page name. When you’re sure, click on Request Change and wait for the reply.
